A new month, a new venue and a new inspiring speaker. What more could you want from the worlds of technology and journalism?
Join Hacks/Hackers Johannesburg on 10 October for a free workshop on the use of satellite, video and drone imagery as investigative tools. The workshop will be hosted by John Stupart, the co-founder of African Defence Review (https://www.africandefence.net/)
John will explain how ADR uses publicly-available tools to peel back the layers of misdirection, the use of satellite, video and drone imagery along with some basic applicable skills can often provide important details that are not immediately obvious.
John has worked in military and conflict media for seven years, having moved from the dark side of trade and industry to that of investigative reporting. He holds a Master’s in War Studies from King’s College London, and focuses primarily on utilising simple open-source intelligence (OSINT) techniques to shed light on the murky business of African conflicts.
This event is being hosted by Assemble Online, and drinks and snacks will be provided.
