Details
[FOR JOURNALISTS, DEVELOPERS, ACTIVISTS. LIMITED SEATS. APPLY BY AUG 18. http://delhi.dbootcamp.org/registration/ ]
Over the past few years, India has seen significant growth in public information available to journalists, civic activists and developer communities for analysis and action. To contribute to this phenomenon, we need a crash course in the new skills, techniques and tools used by the world's leading open data practitioners to "follow the money" and track public spending.
After successful editions in South America, Eastern Europe and most of Africa, the International Center for Journalists (http://www.icfj.org/)' d | Bootcamp (http://delhi.dbootcamp.org/) will debut in India this September, with support from the World Bank (http://www.worldbank.org/) and Hindustan Times (http://www.hindustantimes.com/). This hands-on training weekend will give 30 journalists, 15 developers/designers and 15 civil-society and open-government representatives the opportunity to:
work with international trainers and local experts from organisations like BBC News, Code for Africa (http://www.codeforafrica.org/), ICFJ itself and event partners Hacks/Hackers Delhi (https://www.facebook.com/groups/hackshackersdelhi/) and DataMeet (http://datameet.org/)
• build interactive content/resources around India's new budget and get a participation certificate for it ;)
Each of the bootcamp's three days will start with training in the processes and tools involved in sourcing/analysing/visualising open data, and then move on to group work where five 10-member teams work with mentors to build their respective projects. Click here (http://delhi.dbootcamp.org/agenda-2/) for a detailed agenda.
