Applications concrètes de l'intelligence artificielle au journalisme.

Notre deuxième meetup de la saison 2017-18 souhaite vous présenter quelques exemples d'applications pratiques de l'intelligence artificielle (apprentissage automatique, apprentissage profond) avec trois conférenciers-ères hors pair.

1. Watson avec Marc Lajoie

Journaliste québécois travaillant pour le South China Morning Post (http://www.scmp.com/frontpage/international), Marc Lajoie (http://marclajoie.info/) s'est servi de Watson (https://www.ibm.com/watson/), un système d'IA proposé par IBM, pour faire un reportage saisissant: Bhumika Can Speak For Herself.

2. La reconnaissance d'images de TensorFlow avec Nadia Tahiri

Doctorante en bioinformatique, Nadia Tahiri (https://github.com/TahiriNadia) viendra faire une démonstration de la bibliothèque Python TensorFlow (https://www.tensorflow.org/) pour faire de la reconnaissance d'images.

3. API.AI avec une équipe de Radio-Canada Information

Thomas Le Jouan, chef de la R&D numérique chez Radio-Canada (http://beta.radio-canada.ca/), et Grégoire Bodson, développeur chez Yaksa (http://www.yaksa.ca/), viendront expliquer comment ils ont mis au point le nouveau robot conversationnel Messenger de Radio-Can info avec API.ai (https://api.ai/).

Nous terminerons avec quelques annonces / propositions / courts démos.

Artificial intelligence for journalism: practical applications.

For our second meetup of the 2017-18 season, we’ll be presenting some examples of artificial intelligence (machine learning and deep learning) with three exceptional guest speakers:

1. Watson - Marc Lajoie

As a Quebecois journalist working for the South China Morning Post (http://www.scmp.com/frontpage/international), Marc Lajoie (http://marclajoie.info/) will explain how he used Watson (https://www.ibm.com/watson/), IBM’s cutting edge AI system, to produce a striking and original feature: Bhumika Can Speak For Herself.

2. Image recognition using TensorFlow - Nadia Tahiri

Bioinformatics PhD student Nadia Tahiri (https://github.com/TahiriNadia) will give a demonstration of how to use the Python TensorFlow (https://www.tensorflow.org/) library for image recognition.

3. API.AI - Team from Radio-Canada Information

Thomas Le Jouan, digital R&D lead at Radio-Canada (http://beta.radio-canada.ca/), along with Grégoire Bodson, developer with Yaksa (http://www.yaksa.ca/), will explain how they built Radio-Canada's recent Messenger chatbot with API.ai (https://api.ai/).

This will be followed by community announcements, propositions and/or short demos.
