What we’re about

Since 2005, this has been the definitive group in Hamburg for anyone working with Microsoft Database products such as SQL Server, Azure SQL Database, Azure Synapse Analytics, etc.

Should your workload run on Amazon RDS für SQL Server or GCP Cloud SQL for SQL Server, we don't care. You are, of course, Welcome!

We expect all members to follow the Berlin Code of Conduct.
By participating in our Meetups, you agree that we may take photos and films during the event and use them on social media.

Please follow our Medium publication to stay up to date!

Modern Data Processing with Drasi and Entity Framework likes PostgreSQL

Computer Futures, Fuhlentwiete 3-5, Hamburg, HH, DE

In cooperation with the Hamburg C# and .NET User Group Meetup, we invite you to the following Meetup in the City Center of Hamburg:

Join us for an evening of technical talks covering data processing and database performance optimization.

    Schedule:

    • 18:00 - Doors open
    • 18:10 - Welcome
    • 18:15 - Talks begin

Talk 1: Rethinking Legacy Systems - Data Change Processing with Project Drasi
Janek Fellien introduces Project Drasi, a new open source project from Microsoft that brings Complex Event Processing concepts to legacy systems. How do you detect and react to data changes in existing software? While new systems can use Event Sourcing or custom solutions, legacy systems need different approaches. Janek will show how Drasi can help transform or integrate a monolithic legacy system into a microservices architecture.
    Speaker: Janek Fellien

Talk 2: Entity Framework Seems to Like PostgreSQL More Than SQL Server
Sascha Lorenz presents a short talk on a surprising finding: Microsoft's preferred ORM often runs more efficiently on PostgreSQL than on SQL Server. We'll examine why PostgreSQL sometimes optimizes EF workloads more effectively, compare execution plans, and discuss which index strategies make the difference.
    Speaker: Sascha Lorenz

Venue: Thanks to our room sponsor, Computer Futures, for hosting this event!

Important: The doorbell shows "SThree" - please select this option if the door doesn't open automatically.

The talks will be held in English if required.
