Relaxed because most of our walks are shorter distances - from 3 to 8 miles and all at an easy relaxed pace with regular stops (there may be the odd longer walk dependent on location). We don't do too many hills (although the odd one can't be ruled out to get a nice view!!), but most of the time we're on flat or gently undulating ground which should hopefully suit most abilities. Nobody gets left behind and if you are running late at the start we will always hang on for about 10 minutes before setting off.
Walks usually alternate between Hampshire and West Sussex, although we may venture further afield if there's somewhere interesting to visit. In Summer 2019 we organised our first camping trip to North Devon to take in some coastal walking to Baggy Point and also a stunning walk over Exmoor to Watersmeet in the Lyn Gorge. This was such a successful week, we are aiming to do a couple more camping trips in summer 2020
Our Walks do fill up very quickly, so please do RSVP as soon as you can but don't be too disappointed if you go on a wait list - we do keep an eye on this & try to get most people on where possible except if we are really restricted for car parking etc.
We also organise occasional Evening Walks in the Summer to take advantage of the lighter evenings & these usually happen on a Friday Evening. We may hold the occasional Social Evening such as Meals Out, Picnics/BBQ s, visits to Beer Festivals, or Pub Nights as well.
We don't stand on formalities too much but do ask, if your plans change, please amend your rsvp in good time, so other members can join in - especially if there is a waitlist; similarly if you have not logged on to the group in 3 months or more, you will be removed to keep membership numbers manageable. Furthermore if you DO sign up for an event and FAIL to show up on 3 or more occasions, without giving us prior notification, you will be removed from the group!
You don't need to have all the gear, just comfortable clothing/footwear and a desire to enjoy a nice walk with friendly, like minded people. We have a lot of dog lovers (myself included!) in our group, so if you're a dog owner, then you're very welcome to bring them along too, but they must be kept on a Lead in public areas.
