What we're about

Welcome to this fun and friendly group!

Founded seven years ago, this group has always been run from the view that walking should be a pleasure, taken at a steady pace, not a route march. Our walks are generally 3 to 8 miles in length and give you time to stop and enjoy the beautiful scenery and reconnect with nature. We also love socialising, priding ourselves on providing pub/cafe lunches, afternoon teas or picnics as part of our walking experience. We also regularly put on guided heritage walks at sites in Hampshire and surrounding counties. The most popular ones have been Stonehenge, Avebury and St Catherine's Hill in Winchester. Lots of photographers come on our walks as it gives them time to compose great shots.

When we set up the group in 2012, we were the first and only Hampshire wide walking meet up and we are still going strong. That's down to our dedicated organisers and loyal, friendly members. We also put other social events on as well as walks such as meals out, visits to historical/cultural places and boat trips.

The group is open to people aged 18 and over and is not just for single people. We have couples who walk with us as well as those who have partners who perhaps don't like walking. I do recommend that you wear appropriate walking boots or shoes and outdoor weather attire when attending any walks.

There is no annual fee to join the group and not every meet up has a meet up fee. More than a third of the meet ups have no meet up fee. All walks have to be paid for in advance using PayPal. This saves you hunting around for spare change on the day.

It is not necessary to have an account to use PayPal. There is a guest payment facility which allows you to pay by debit or credit card. It is just £2.30 (includes PayPal fee) to attend most walks where a pub meal or tea and cake are usually arranged. Guided heritage walks start from £7.50 (includes PayPal fee), again payable by PayPal in advance. Other third party/commercial events are also advertised on the meet up such as murder mystery dinners or ghost walks. The cost of these will vary and tickets will usually need to be purchased directly from the third party on an individual basis except where otherwise indicated by the organiser.

For a group to work well and provide good events, we naturally have to have some T's and C's. So please read below for our terms and conditions. They aren't too onerous honest!

1. You must be 18 and over to be a member. All guests must be 18 and over. No school or pre-school children are allowed at our events.

2. When signing up for an event, please see this as a commitment to attend. We understand that from time to time life happens and something unexpected comes up that means you have to cancel. However, continual cancellations i.e. three in a row, will result in removal from the group.

3. Two no shows in a row will result in an instant removal from the group. A no show is where a member has RSVP'd Yes for an event but does not show up. Please note that you will be put down as a no show if you turn up for a walk late and the group have already set off. Make sure you allow plenty of time to get to the meet up site, park and make contact with the organiser.

4. Members should not leave messages regarding non attendance on the meet up site at short notice (within one hour of the event) Members must contact the host by mobile phone i.e. text to advise of any late RSVP changes. This is because organisers may not have access to the internet particularly if they are travelling to site and/or there is a poor signal due to a rural location.

Why not come along and join in the fun!

best wishes
