What we’re about

Welcome to this fun and friendly group!

Founded in 2012, this group has always been run from the view that walking should be a pleasure, taken at a steady pace, not a route march.  Our walks are generally 3 to 8 miles in length and give you time to stop and enjoy the beautiful scenery and reconnect with nature. We also love socialising, priding ourselves on providing pub/cafe lunches, afternoon teas or picnics as part of our walking experience. We also regularly put on guided heritage walks at sites in Hampshire and surrounding counties. The most popular ones have been Stonehenge, Avebury and St Catherine's Hill in Winchester. Lots of photographers come on our walks as it gives them time to compose great shots.
When we set up the group in 2012, we were the first and only Hampshire wide walking meet up and we are still going strong.  That's down to our dedicated organisers and loyal, friendly members. We also put other social events on as well as walks such as meals out, visits to historical/cultural places and boat trips.

The group is open to people aged 18 and over and is not just for single people. We have couples who walk with us as well as those who have partners who perhaps don't like walking. I do recommend that you wear appropriate walking boots or shoes and outdoor weather attire when attending any walks.

I have taken over as a stand in organiser for a 6 month trial period from 20th November 2023. The first part of the introduction was written by Linda Munday the previous organiser and I hope to run the group along these lines. I don't think I will be able to arrange a walk more than once a month but if other members would like to Lead or Co lead walks please let me know. It is useful to have a Co Leader in case one of them is ill on the day of the walk. Always check the website before coming on a walk.

See you soon.
