“Among the tales of sorrow and of ruin that came down to us from the darkness of those days there are yet some in which amid weeping there is joy and under the shadow of death light that endures." - J.R.R. Tolkien...

Happy new year!! We are very happy to be able to see y'all again in the beginning of 2016.

This time, we are going to open our mind and let our imagination run wild. Be fascinated by those magnificent tales and beauties that lie beneath a dozen of fantasy novels that could easily take our breath away, or merely end up as an intellectual showcase on our bookshelves.

Expect to hear reviews on books like "The Silmarillion" written by J.R.R. Tolkien, one part of Naomi Novik's Temeraire series, "His Majesty's Dragon", "The Republic of Thieves" written by Scott Lynch, The Mistborn trilogy written by Brandon Sanderson, "Perjalanan Sunyi Bisma Dewabrata (The Silent Journey of Bisma Dewabrata)" written by Pitoyo Amrih, "Tales from Earthsea" written by Ursula K. Le Guin, and more (to be updated).

IMPORTANT NOTE: Since we have a number of books to be discussed this month, we'll keep the review short (3-5 minutes each). We have a limited quota of participants. Don't forget to bring a valid ID card (KTP/ KITAS/ driver's license) to obtain an access card into the building. We will prioritize people who have RSVPed on this website or Facebook group to come in until 11:15.

AGENDA OF EVENT:

• book reviews & discussion

• book auction/ quiz

• book swap (bring your old book and expect to bring home a "new" one)

The discussion will be moderated in English and Bahasa Indonesia. This event is independently supported by JBC officers.
