Happy Hour Thursdays started as a Meetup group mostly made up of single professionals who are interested in meeting new friends, networking and mingling. We are one of the most active and fastest growing Meetup groups in the state of Michigan that has grown to almost 4300 members in about five years.
Because of our growth and success, we have decided to join forces with our Wine Club(s); (our wine and social club) to expand and grow the types of events we do. Get ready to see wine socials, Northern MI wine trips, drinks + yoga, golf and more! We typically meet at different venues between 6 PM and 9 PM, mostly in Oakland County; Ferndale, Royal Oak, Birmingham, Troy or the Rochester. Due to the size of the group, we’re able to strike some wonderful deals such as special menus, happy hour drink prices all night, reserved seating, etc.
But it's not just cheap food and drinks! The whole idea of this Meetup group is to make friends. Since we started this Meetup, we've made so many good friends and that is what keeps us motivated to organize events.
A few notes on conduct to be aware of: Although we promote networking, please do not solicit and abuse it. Although we are mostly singles mingle type of crowd, please do not harass or solicit members; we do keep track of that and you will be removed from the group. Please refrain from over intoxication or bad behavior, that will also get you removed from the group. We are all here to have a great time and make great memories so let's make sure we treat our organizers and venue owners with the utmost respect.
So the group is free to join? What's the catch?
The group is free to join and managed entirely by a volunteer staff. Karma says that if someone wants to be happy in life, they need to make others happy. We are a firm believer in that.
We are looking to expand and would love some great Brand Ambassadors to help us. Please email us back to discuss becoming an Ambassador.
Rules and Regulations - Please read before joining. One of the reasons this Meetup has been so successful is because it's run professionally by your organizers, and that involves rules and regulations. Please read them, follow them and feel free to comment. At the end of the day, this Meetup operates on the feedback it gets from its members.
Strict RSVP Policy
To maintain the success of these events, it is important that you keep your RSVP updated. Most of you are very good at this, and we really appreciate it, but it's the 1% of people that aren't that create a challenge. Organizers put a lot of time and effort into making these events a success. Restaurants are offering us these extended specials based on our word and a handshake. There is no contract. If we can't keep our word, they are not going to trust us next time and it makes it impossible to do another happy hour at the same venue. If you think you may not make it, please change your RSVP, you can change it until the event start time. We may have members on the waiting list, and it would be unfair to them if you RSVP 'yes' and do not show.
Even if you have to cancel at the last minute, please be sure to update your RSVP. It only takes a few seconds. Members who do not keep their RSVP updated will be will not be permitted to RSVP for future events. Life is not perfect and we do make exceptions. If there were exceptional reasons that made you unable to update the RSVP please let us know
We require that members possess a meetup.com account with an actual picture of yourself and real first name associated. We value the safety of our members. Therefore, if you can't use a proper photo or first name for any reason, please contact the organizers. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
To attend an event you are expected to be on the RSVP list. If you plan on crashing an event just because it's being held at a public venue, you may be refused special prices that we have negotiated for the event or may not be allowed into the event area. You will also be removed from the Meetup group.
Some venues have very limited capacity, therefore it is imperative that you do your best to RSVP so we can continue to offer such great specials!
Be nice to others. Do not harass our members online or offline. If someone says “not interested," then take that as a strict "no. If a member has any concerns about another member making them feel uncomfortable, please make the organizers aware of it.
We also will not condone slander, defamation of character, or anything that causes drama between members or instigates bad karma for the group.
We take photos during the Meetup events and these get posted on the Meetup site. It's your job to get out of the pictures if you do not want to be in them or get in the picture if you want to be photographed. The organizers cannot do anything after an event for members who are unhappy that they weren't photographed.
Don't drink and drive, please take an Uber or Lyft home and leave your car if need be.
Thank you for your cooperation and welcome to the group!!!
