Project Update, Live Streaming, and More
Great news everyone! I just received shipping confirmation from the PCB manufacturer, and right now out project board is right on track to be delivered on time for next weeks meetup! I'm super excited about this, and I've been slowly working on writing up the community project we can all work on next week, and I'll also be writing up a few projects that'll explore more uses of the project board.
Also, I've reserved the adjacent conference room so we'll have more space - we'll do the main projects/presentation in the room we used last month, and have space for overflow/project work right next door.
If you received an Arduino Nano clone at the last Meetup, please bring it with you for this month's Meetup. In addition, if you have a project you want to demo on Thursday send me a message through meetup or email me at eli@zanycadence.com.
Finally, if you can't make it out to Santa Monica for this month's meetup, check it out on the YouTube Live Stream! (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKg_QDDhzsM)I'll be setting up a camera and screenshare software so anyone can watch and follow along as we showcase and build new projects. Of course, it's better to be there in person so come check it out!
December's Community Project Update
For this month's project for the hack night, I've designed and fabricated a simple input/output PCB with buttons, potentiometers, and LEDs for us to use in our sound projects. If you grabbed an Arduino Nano last month, please bring it along to this month's meetup for use with our project board. I'll have a handful of Nano's to give out to new participants.

Overview
This is a monthly meetup in Santa Monica for hardware hackers to learn, showcase, and build really cool projects. The meetup is an inclusive community - no experience necessary to come out and have a great time. Feel free to ask questions and share answers as we build and create great hardware together.
A limited selection of hardware will be made available for loaning to participants who want to explore. Intel Edisons, Raspberry Pis, TI Launchpads, Arduinos, and various sensors, LEDs, breadboards, and other assorted electronic components will be available for loaning out for the evening. If you have your own hardware, please feel free to bring it along with you to hack on.
In addition, a limited number of hardware projects will be available to participants each month. These projects will be relatively low cost ($<20) and simple, so if you don't get a free one, you can easily replicate the projects yourself.
December's Theme: Sound
Let's make some noise as we learn about inputs and outputs! We'll learn about digital inputs/outputs, analog inputs/outputs, Pulse Width Modulation (PWM), Analog-to-Digital Converters (ADC's), capacitive sensing, sampling and more. I'll supply a set of hardware kits that will have various inputs and outputs (including an audio amp with a headphone jack) and some project templates - and we'll build some synths, samplers, and drum machines. Once I start working on the projects, I'll update our group discussion page so you can follow along with the progress.
Agenda:
• 6-6:30pm: Network and Hangout
• 6:30pm: Kickoff event w/Introduction to Sound
• 6:45-9pm: Hack, Showcase, and have fun - work on projects, show off your cool builds, and build a community!
Parking:
Parking in Downtown Santa Monica can be a bit of a challenge. There are 2 garages on 4th St. near the WeWork office that offer free parking for the first 60-90 minutes. If those lots are full, there are garages at the Santa Monica library and other locations within a 2-3 block radius that have free parking for at least an hour. It's a short walk to the Metro train station to WeWork. Please note that this is at the Promenade location, not the other WeWork in Santa Monica.
