This will be a 9 mile, intermediate level hike, on the Moore Trail in Lyme CT. The topographical maps show only moderate changes in elevation. It is a very pretty place. The trail is well marked and maps are available.
If you are interested is increasing your distance and endurance this is a great hike. Please don't be intimidated by the mileage. The terrain is more rolling than steep. I also have options to shorten the route.
Please bring a pack and include plenty of water, snacks, a hat, bug spray, salt replacements, camera. Please no cotton. Wear synthetic clothing that will wick the sweat away. I always recommend hiking boots. Since it is Spring, waterproof will help with the mud.
The parking area is a little funky. It is grass lot near a farm. Not completely flat with some rocks. I will try to check it out before everyone arrives.
Well behaved and leashed dogs are welcome. Please no children.
About the hike: From the parking lot we will proceed northeast on the red trail through the Jewett preserve, then south and west on various trails in the Pleasant Valley Preserve. There is a short 1/4 mile road walk on Mt Archer road, then south into Mt Archer Woods and Eno Preserve for the final two miles, which brings us back to the parking lot.
Please check your route, download the GPS at home, know your travel time. Arrive early enough to start at the posted start time.
Items you must consider for every event:
- If you have an event after a hike, please do not sign up for the hike.
- End times are only an estimate.
- The group will not adjust speed or trail route to accommodate your schedule.
- If you cannot attend an event, please cancel 48 hours before. Late cancellations are rude and take away the option for others to join the event.
- Be a good hiking human
