2020 Harvard Blockchain Meetup - Binance meet DeFi

Emerging as a central theme in 2019, the DeFi frenzy has taken the crypto world by storm and it only seems to be gaining more steam with every passing day. Binance’s new foray into DeFi, Binance Smart Chain, attempts to replicate some of the features of the Ethereum blockchain that theoretically could one day challenge traditional lenders and Wall Street trading firms. But DeFi could also threaten big cryptocurrency exchanges like his own.

HKS Blockchain And Cryptocurrency PIC invite you to the Online Webinar on “Binance meet DiFi” on Next Thursday, Nov 12 from 8:00-9:30 pm EST in Zoom. The talk is open to all Harvard students and scholars, and anyone interested in blockchain, cryptocurrency or the future of fintech industry. The panelist talk will focus on the decentralized finance business and regulatory issues. We are honor to invite professional speakers from Binance, Ontology, Unifi, Bella and Roark Fund.

Distinguished Guests:

Teck Chia, Head of Binance X
An initiative to foster innovation on the Binance platform and the general ecosystem at large. Before that, he has played the role of an investor, entrepreneur, product manager and software engineer at companies like Facebook and Oracle. He discovered Bitcoin in 2012 and founded HashTrust.com, a smart contracts platform on Bitcoin. Teck holds a BSc. and MEng. in Computer Science from Cornell University.

Flora Sun, Managing Director of Binance X

An initiative to foster innovation on the Binance platform and the overall blockchain ecosystem at large. Flora has extensive experience in software development, product management, entrepreneurship, and investment. She has built services used by millions of users, and her passion is to make the world a better place via computer science innovations. She is now supporting and enabling blockchain developers to do the same. Flora holds B.S. and M.Eng. degrees in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from MIT.

Juliun Brabon is founder of Unifi, A community developer and blockchain governance advocate. Also the founder and CEO of Sesameseed one of the largest staking communities and developers on Tron, Ontology and Harmony.

Key opinion leader in blockchain. Founding partner of Roark Fund and 499Block, invested and incubated. 40+ blockchain startups. 14 years experience in internet and AI startups. Alumni of MIT and Tsinghua University.

Felix Xu, Bella Protocol, CEO

Felix graduated from NYU Stern with Information Systems and Finance degrees. He has seven years of experience in venture capital and tech startups. Prior to founding Bella Protocol, Felix invests early stage blockchain and fintech companies at Fosun Group. He is also CEO at Arpachain, a privacy-preserving computation network via multiparty computation.

Erick Pinos, Americas Ecosystem Lead of Ontology
Advisor of Wing. Erick is also President of the Blockchain Education Network (BEN), a six-year-old global network of blockchain clubs, students, professors, and alumni. Erick has a BS in Management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he was the President of the MIT Bitcoin Club and a researcher at the MIT Digital Currency Initiative.
