The Future of Service Networking
Details
Hello Paris HUG chapter! Please join us for our next Meetup on Thursday, January 9th at 18:30 - talks begin promptly at 19:00. Our speakers are Pierre Souchay, Christoph Puhl, and Baptiste Assman.
Talk #1 -
Pierre Souchay, Building a Consul Connect Service Mesh with HAProxy
Criteo is using Consul and HAProxy for years at Criteo at very large scale.
With the rise of Service Mesh implementation it thus became clear to use HAProxy as an implementation of Consul Connect. We will explain how we implemented Consul Connect with HAProxy in an Open Source implementation of Consul Connect protocol.
Pierre Souchay is leading the discovery team at Criteo, responsible of architecture of Discovery team which operates Consul at very large scale (more than 260k services on 40k machines). His team is also one of the first contributors to the Open Source version of Consul.
Talk #2 -
Christoph Puhl, Introduction to Consul (Service Discovery and Service Mesh)
Consul is a service networking solution to connect and secure services across any runtime platform and public or private cloud.
In this talk, we will discuss the basic concepts of how Consul Service Mesh is helping to secure service to service communications and how to interconnect various different cloud and runtime environments. We will discuss the challenges new application architectures like microservices bring to networking people and how HashiCorp Consul can help to solve these challenges.
Christoph is working as a Consul Technology Specialist within the HashiCorp Field CTO Office responsible for the EMEA region. Before joining HashiCorp Christoph worked at VMware in a European team of networking specialists with a focus on VMware NSX integration into Kubernetes and additionally focusing on all security-related topics within the VMware portfolio. Over the last 10+ years his technical focus was all about datacenter networking, network virtualization, and network automation and he still owns an active CCIE certification.
Talk #3 -
Baptiste Assmann, Deep dive into HAProxy features used in a Service Mesh
Baptiste is a Principle Solutions Architect at HAProxy Technologies and mainly focused on cutting edge use cases for software load-balancers. In his role, he is also involved with strategic customers of the company. Baptiste is also a contributor to the HAProxy Open Source software.
