December Hazelcast User Group
Details
Join us for an exciting Hazelcast User Group (HUG) meeting in London on Tuesday, December 6th at 6:00pm where you will get to hear from industry experts about 3 hot topics (more info below) and network with your peers while enjoying food and drinks. Feel free to bring any fellow Hazelcast users or anyone interested in learning more about Hazelcast.
AGENDA:
6:00pm - 6:30pm - Networking, Drinks, Appetizers
6:30pm - 7:00pm - "Introducing Jet and java.util.stream for Hazelcast" Can Gencer, JET team lead, Hazelcast
Hazelcast Jet is a general purpose distributed data processing engine based around directed acyclic graphs built on Hazelcast. The Jet engine also powers a distributed java.util.stream implementation. The talk will introduce the general concepts behind DAG-based data processing and then show how a java.util.stream implementation works on top of Hazelcast distributed data structures
7:00pm - 7:30pm - "Hazelcast On-Demand with Cloud Foundry and BOSH" Daniel Jones, CTO, Engineer Better
\With the Cloud Foundry Platform-as-a-Service and its deployment tool BOSH, developers can spin up dedicated, self-healing Hazelcast clusters on-demand, on dedicated virtual machines in a matter of minutes. What's more is that these Hazelcast clusters offer the full functionality of a regular Hazelcast setup, including the option of features like WAN replication. Daniel Jones takes us through the capabilities of the Hazelcast Cloud Foundry offering, and the benefits of using a PaaS and convergent deployment tools like BOSH.
7:30pm-7:45pm - Pizza, Beer and Mince Pies
7:45pm - 8:15pm - "Using Hazelcast as the Serving Layer in Kappa Architecture" Oliver Buckley-Salmon, Architect, Deutschebank
Many Industries have a combined need to view and process big and fast data. Previously tools such as Hadoop allowed the processing of large data sets but at high latency and stream processing systems processed small amounts of data very fast. Recently new architectures have been suggested to combine both of these to provide a single solution for big and fast data.
This presentation looks at the Kappa Architecture ( http://milinda.pathirage.org/kappa-architecture.com/ ) and the role Hazelcast can play as the real-time serving layer. It also discusses a new architecture configuration, code named Mu, that builds on the Kappa and Lambda Architectures.
