Health at Every Size Book Discussion
We will plan to read the book Health at Every Size: The Surprising Truth About Your Weight by Linda Bacon, PhD. For this meet-up: 1. Purchase this book (used) on Amazon for around $5 (or even get it from your local library). 2. Read Part 1: Deconstructing Weight (chapters 1 - 6) 3. Work through the discussion questions, that will be posted soon (we will discuss these at our meet-up). If you are not able to purchase (due to financial reasons) or cannot find the book, please reach out to me. Also, I am working on a location.     What we're about

    This group is for people who are interested in learning, sharing, and advocating for a healthier way of living. This is a health-centered group that takes the focus off weight in order to promote a healthy balanced lifestyle. The 5 basic principles of Health at Every Size® commonly referred to as HAES® are: 1. Accepting and respecting the diversity of body shapes and sizes. 2. Recognizing that health and well-being are multi-dimensional and that they include physical, social, spiritual, occupational, emotional, and intellectual aspects. 3. Promoting all aspects of health and well-being for people of all sizes. 4. Promoting eating in a manner which balances individual nutritional needs, hunger, satiety, appetite, and pleasure. 5. Promoting individually appropriate, enjoyable, life-enhancing physical activity, rather than exercise that is focused on a goal of weight loss. Everyone is welcome to join, whether this is your first time hearing of HAES, or if you would like to continue your learning and advocating for HAES, please join us for our meet-ups.
