This presentation will provide a high-level view of the Google Cloud healthcare data platform, managed FHIR® APIs, and capabilities that support end-end customer use cases for healthcare data interoperability. It will also cover key themes around the adoption of FHIR and implementation patterns followed by Google Cloud's customers transitioning to FHIR®.

3. Ed Martin is the Director, Technology at CDHI at UCSF.

“FHIR® in Action: How UCSF Uses FHIR® to Enable Innovation”

This presentation showcases some examples of digital health apps to tackle the problem areas that are strategic for UCSF. The areas include healthcare research, patient access, care team coordination, and virtual care. The apps include bespoke, in-house developed software and 3rd party vendor solutions. The talk also covers how UCSF governs access to its EHR’s FHIR® API’s to help ensure improved clinical outcomes.

"CMS Interoperability and Patient Access final rule for health plans"

CMS has released the 21st Century Cures Act rule that affects all CMS-regulated health plans. By January 1, 2021, health plans must allow their members to access their claims and encounter information over standards-based secure API (FHIR® 4.0.1) along with Provider Directory API. We will analyze the rule in detail and share the checklist that any health plan can use. Then we will explain the technology that needs to be built and how organizations can approach it.
