There are two types of people who may be interested in joining this meetup- those who are interested in meditation, and those who are interested in learning about various techniques, ideas, and approaches to holistic health. I've found more often than not if you're interested in one, you're probably interested in the other! Which is why this meetup has really grown over to be appropriate for just about anyone interested in living their best life possible.

So first let's talk about meditation: Have you ever wondered what the big deal is about Meditation? Why meditation is such a powerful tool of transformation? Or perhaps simply wanted to learn how to meditate on your own and begin an at home practice? Some of the proven benefits of meditation include:

~ Improved mental clarity and memory
~ Better sleep and improved energy
~ Fewer emotional “triggers”
~ More harmonious relationships

There are many types of meditation, all with valid benefits and purpose. Heart Based Meditation is a method that works in harmony with the nature of your mind to make meditation easy and effortless. Forget your preconceived notions at the door- you do not have to empty your mind of thoughts or sit perfectly upright for hours at a time in order to meditate effectively. Regardless of whether you are looking to add another type of meditation to your practice, have struggled with meditation in the past, or have never meditated before, with Heart Based Meditation you will discover a frustration-free practice, as you let go of all the “doing” and “trying” and release the demands of everyday life.

The original reason why I began this meetup was to provide an opportunity for as many people as possible to learn this beautiful practice and begin to experience the benefits. Part of this is also giving support as you begin to incorporate meditation into your life. The weekly Group Meditations are a wonderful way to help you truly embrace a consistent meditation practice. Every week people come with their experiences, and their challenges, as they try to do this. Studies have shown over and over again that support is key when trying to adopt a big change, so please take advantage of the weekly meditation groups! As a side benefit, meditation is exponentially more powerful when done in a group, so the usefulness of these meetings shouldn't be underestimated. If you are interested in learning the Heart Based Meditation technique, look for two meetups called Meditation Instruction Day 1 and Meditation Instruction Day 2. You need to attend both days in order to be fully trained. Once you have taken the two days of Heart Based Meditation instruction, you are welcome to attend any of our weekly Group Meditations. While I have a deep appreciation and respect for all forms of meditation, the group meditations are for Heart Based Meditation practitioners only.

Since I began this meetup, it's become very clear that there is also a desire and a need for this meetup to be a platform to talk about different techniques and ideas myself and my clients have found helpful in the pursuit of becoming the best versions of ourselves. Following the Group Meditations, I give an hour workshop on various topics, all related to personal growth, expanding consciousness, and holistic approaches to health. You do NOT need to be trained in Heart Based Meditation to attend these workshops; they are open to anyone. I encourage you to attend these workshops even if you haven't made it to a Meditation Training yet- they are a great way to meet other members of the group.

All of the weekly group meditations and workshops are donation based only. If there is a fee associated with a special event or workshop, it will be listed within the description of the meetup.

It is truly a joy running this meetup, and I am consistently thrilled with how many of you come to the meditation trainings and workshops. The meetings are always a highlight of my week- this community is full of lovely people all interested in the pursuit of their best selves, and it's an honor to help you all learn new tools to find- and listen - to that still voice within trying to guide you there.

Seminar: Introduction to Ayurveda

This seminar will introduce you to the basics of this ancient healing method and give you a chance to investigate how Ayurveda applies to you. Ayurveda directly translates to the knowledge of life and is considered the oldest holistic and preventative approach to health. It is a mechanism for identifying what may be out of balance within your body and provides options for treating this imbalance through modalities like diet, essential oils, and lifestyle choices. Through the teachings of Ayurveda, you can learn how to tap into the innate wisdom of your own body and be able to use this knowledge as a form of preventative care. During this seminar, we will go over the essential tenets of Ayurveda, including the three Ayurvedic Types, or Doshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. These Doshas are so much more than just body types- they are connected to times of day, seasons, foods, and activities. You will also: - Take a quiz to determine what, if any, imbalances you may have at present - Learn what the warning signs are for a dosha going out of balance - Experience aspects of certain recommended daily Ayurvedic self care routines You will need to bring with you: - A journal if you would like to take notes - A towel and socks you don't care about - a thermos or mug The investment for this two and a half hour seminar is $35, which can be paid via cash or check upon arrival. THE CHAKRAS During this educational and healing three class series we will take a deep dive into each of the chakras, as well as experience a healing meditation for each of the lower chakras (1-4) where most imbalances originate. Day 1 will cover the Why and How of Heart Based Meditation - This training will give you the knowledge you need to establish an at home meditation practice.
