There are two types of people who may be interested in joining this meetup- those who are interested in meditation, and those who are interested in learning about various techniques, ideas, and approaches to holistic health. I've found more often than not if you're interested in one, you're probably interested in the other! Which is why this meetup has really grown over the past five years to be appropriate for just about anyone interested in living their best life possible.

So first let's talk about meditation: Have you ever wondered what the big deal is about Meditation? Why meditation is such a powerful tool of transformation? Or perhaps simply wanted to learn how to meditate on your own and begin an at home practice? Some of the proven benefits of meditation include:

~ Reduction of stress and anxiety

~ Improved mental clarity and memory

~ Better sleep and improved energy

~ Fewer emotional “triggers”

~ More harmonious relationships

There are many types of meditation, all with valid benefits and purpose. Heart Based Meditation is a method that works in harmony with the nature of your mind to make meditation easy and effortless. Forget your preconceived notions at the door- you do not have to empty your mind of thoughts or sit perfectly upright for hours at a time in order to meditate effectively. Regardless of whether you are looking to add another type of meditation to your practice, have struggled with meditation in the past, or have never meditated before, with Heart Based Meditation you will discover a frustration-free practice, as you let go of all the “doing” and “trying” and release the demands of everyday life.

The original reason why I began this meetup was to provide an opportunity for as many people as possible to learn this practice and begin to experience the benefits. Part of this is also giving support as you begin to incorporate meditation into your life, which is why I host a Heart Based Meditation Community Forum about once a month. People come with their experiences, and their challenges, as they incorporate meditation into their daily life. Studies have shown over and over again that support is key when trying to adopt a big change, so please take advantage of these groups! As a side benefit, meditation is exponentially more powerful when done in a group, so the usefulness of these meetings shouldn't be underestimated.

If you are interested in learning the Heart Based Meditation technique, look for the meetup called Heart Based Meditation Training. In the description you will find the four dates listed that make up the full training. Once you have taken at least the first two days of Heart Based Meditation training, you are welcome to attend any of our Group Meditations. While I have a deep appreciation and respect for all forms of meditation, the group meditations are for Heart Based Meditation practitioners only.

Since I began this meetup, it's become very clear that there is also a desire and a need for this meetup to be a platform to talk about different techniques and ideas myself and my clients have found helpful in the pursuit of becoming the best versions of ourselves. Periodically I give workshops on various topics, all related to personal growth, expanding consciousness, and holistic approaches to health. You do NOT need to be trained in Heart Based Meditation to attend these workshops; they are open to anyone. I encourage you to attend these workshops even if you haven't made it to a Meditation Training yet- they are a great way to meet other members of the group.

All of the group meditations and workshops are offered on a donation basis. If there is a fee associated with a special event or seminar, it will be listed within the description of the meetup. If there is no fee listed, the event is offered free of charge- donation is not required, though it is much appreciated if you choose to do so.

It is truly a joy running this meetup, and I am consistently thrilled with how many of you come to the meditation trainings and workshops. This community is full of lovely people all interested in the pursuit of their best selves, and it's an honor to help you all learn new tools to find- and listen - to that still voice within trying to guide you there.

Heart Based Meditation Retreat: Uplifting Relationships

I am offering an in person option to this online Heart-Based Meditation retreat facilitated by my mentor Dr. Paul Dugliss. These five day retreats are the ultimate opportunity to experience deep rest, foster rejuvenation, and receive instruction in consciousness and heart-centered living. We invite you to connect with our community of meditators and find the joy that comes in taking each step toward greater freedom. The theme for this retreat is so appropriate to the times- the stress of COVID, the tremendous amount of societal change- who doesn’t have at least one relationship in their life that could use some assistance?! Not to mention the relationship we have with ourselves.

The program begins Friday evening and ends Wednesday evening. Please note that there is a three day option (ending midday on Sunday) if your schedule doesn't allow you to participate for the full five days. I do, however, encourage you to take the time to do the full five day retreat. Our meditation sequences are punctuated with time for personal movement and stretching, breathwork and rest periods to give you the maximum integration benefits. In addition to all lectures and meditations offered online with Dr. Dugliss, you will receive the benefit of additional Q&A sessions and one on one meetings offered by myself in person.

We encourage you to give yourself the gift of retreat as an opportunity to let go of your day-to-day responsibilities and relax. Many have found that this format truly facilitates deep connection, impactful healing and powerful transformation.
