Are you a young professional in Helena? If so, you should join the Helena Young Professionals (HYP). Our mission is to bring together young professionals in the Helena area through civic engagement, social networking, and professional development, to build each other up and help shape the future of Helena. Our vision is a vibrant community in which young professionals from across work sectors and social circles engage and interact with ease.
Who counts as a professional? - We are happy to have representation from private, nonprofit, and public spheres.
Who counts as "young"? - We have no age limit/restriction, but most members range from mid twenties to early forties.
What does HYP do? - We have casual social meet ups, organize occasional volunteering, and also have professional development events. Every month we have a networking lunch hour at a different Helena business, and either a happy hour or an outdoor recreation event. See our facebook or website for more information.
Join HYP for a 4.5-mile loop hike after work! The loop will take us on the Waterline Trail, up Barking Dog, over to Wakina Ridge, down to Wakina Sky, hopscotch up to the Black Forest, and then back down and back on the Waterline Trail. Total elevation gain will be more than 1000 feet, but it will be an up-down-up-down elevation gain. The steepest section of the trail is up Barking Dog and to the top of Wakina Ridge. After that, it is fairly gentle. And, if we are lucky, some wildflowers will be out!
Due to limited parking, this event will be limited to 10 people. We will leave promptly at 5:30 pm to ensure we have enough daylight. Please register below to reserve a spot.
Celebrate Earth Day at Black Sandy State Park! HYP is partnering with AmeriCorps and Montana State Parks for a volunteer work event at our local state park. We will be preparing the state park for its summer visitors, which will include raking willow leaves, picking up micro-litter, some light trail work, and cleaning up the campsite areas. Pizza and snacks will be served!
For this event, we are looking for 10-15 volunteers who can commit to several hours of work. We will meet at Black Sandy at 9:00 am on the 24th. Please register for this event before April 16th. All volunteers are required to wear closed-toe shoes.
