We'll have two talks:

1. "What is New in Java" by Ivan Yurchenko

Java 8 was released 5 years ago but still is predominant in production environments. However, more and more migrations to newer versions happen due to many interesting and important changes to the language, the standard library, the virtual machine. In this presentation, I will make an overview of what is new in Java since version 8.

2. "Helidon - Java libraries for writing microservices" by Dmitry Kornilov (Helidon project lead) and Tomas Langer (Helidon architect)

It's a challenge to choose Java microservices framework which satisfies your requirements. Some developers prefer reactive, functional style of APIs and other developers give preference to inversion of control, declarative style APIs familiar from JavaEE/JakartaEE/MicroProfile. Also it should have a small footprint and fast startup time. Come learn about project Helidon (https://helidon.io). It supports two flavors of APIs out of the box so you can choose the right one for you. I'll give you an introduction to project Helidon, explain what development experiences it provides and compare it with other Java microservices frameworks. Live demo is a part of presentation. I'll demonstrate how to easy build Helidon applications with HealthChecks, Metrics and Tracing support and deploy them on Kubernetes.
