We are a group of people who appreciate the blog Slate Star Codex by Scott Alexander (http://slatestarcodex.com/about/), "a blog about science, medicine, philosophy, politics, and futurism", and other content in that neighborhood of the Internet and ideaspace. If you have similar interests and want to hang out with like-minded people, you are welcome to join us!
We meet regularly (once a month) for informal chat and discussion. Aside from recent SSC articles, discussion has no set theme and can range over about anything patrons find interesting. Common conversation topics of our previous meetups have included (but have not been not limited to): science, fiction, science fiction, programming, philosophy, LessWrong, artificial intelligence, futurism, and technology. We have been meeting since April 2017.
Some further info:
• Finnish and English are both welcome.
• Usually significantly more people will show up than listed on this site, since we also advertise this meetup through other channels and we don't require people to RSVP. The number of attendees has varied between 3-20.
• This group page happens to be set to "Private" mode (which is intentionally impossible to reverse on meetup.com), so some information is hidden unless you "join" the group. We're not trying to be secretive, though; feel free to just join.
