And Now for Something Completely Different ... TianXia!
Details
Our next episode – TianXia! This is a game of wuxia/Chinese historical kung-fu, set in a fantasy version of ancient China. The system used is "Fate", first widely introduced in the game ‘Spirit of the Century’ in 2006 and released in the current version (“Fate Core”) as a generic system in 2013. Fate games concentrate heavily on the narrative being developed, but not at the expense of rules and procedures.
Chit-chat about the goals of ANFSCD overall and Fate games history starts around 5:00pm, followed by the pre-gen character review and rules overview, then at 5:30 pm we start off play!
Players will NOT need to bring the special Fate/Fudge ‘dF’ dice (if you have some, please do bring them); I’ll have my supply on hand to share. Just bring a pencil!
“And Now for Something Completely Different …” is a periodic Meetup-scheduled session, to introduce RPG role-players to games outside of the local mainstream (DnD / Pathfinder / Starfinder). Each session will be a stand-alone one-shot about introducing a different game. Play will be handled within a four-hour session, often using pregens to promote entry into play quickly. The emphasis is on different play styles, mechanics, and similar concepts. Plus, having fun!
Future sessions will feature other games using Fate (including The Secret of Cats, Mindjammer, and Ehdrigohr), the Powered-by-the-Apocalypse/PbtA system (including Urban Shadows, Impulse Drive, and Ironsworn), as well as other games with their own systems (including Burning Wheel, Atlantis, and The Fantasy Trip).
Remember, attendance is FREE!
