What we’re about
Herpes is such a common condition however it can dramatically change your outlook on life - for better or worse! Social interactions : support : dating are all potentially new challenges following diagnosis. Statistics tell us that 1 in 8 some quote 1 in 4! people have herpes and many more who don't know they do. For those who do know and have a diagnosis and feel a responsibility to disclose and want to date without the discussion or someone to share the discussion tips or just have people to hang out with socially, who are or have faced a similar time - I am proposing a support, networking, social and dating group who meet up face to face. When I was diagnosed I wished at the time for a positive normal place to turn to on diagnosis and found not much was available!! I hope others feel the same and be bold and brave and join.

For some people initially there is fear associated with confidentially so

Please ensure you: 1. Make your name private or change if worried about privacy 2. Change your profile photo to something anonymous if worried
3. 3. Place individual settings on viewing groups to private so others are unable to see which group memberships you have.

Please offer up suggestions and I will aim to build a community. I look forward to meeting new people in the same situation, sharing stories, experiences, having a laugh together in a safe space.

Lastly You are clearly not alone - I too have an STI along with 1 in 4 of our population ! However sometime especially in the early days life can feel bloody lonely and ten years on as a hsv veteran I thought maybe I could put a positive spin on things and see how a group goes.

Please encourage hsv positive friends to join - let me know what you would like to gain from a group like this and I will happily aim to facilitate and grow the group :)

Given the community of people willing to participate in each separate area is small (for now) we propose an initial dinner meeting to mark amalgamation of our areas and look forward to suggestions of fun social events and activities and input from Sydney to Newcastle and all areas between ! ??

Thankyou Jenna
