Connect with others who like to attend local events such as theatre, film, live NT screenings, art exhibitions, music, comedy, talks and lectures. There is quite a lot going on in Hertford and the surrounding area and it would be wonderful to have the opportunity to discuss and share the experiences with other like minded local people. Any age welcome! Other organisers also welcome.
Hosted by the Barn’s very own standup Eamon Goodfellow (finalist in the 2019 New Act of the Year competition), the nights bring the finest of local and international comedy talent. Acts do 5-15 minutes of material with up to 12 taking part on any night, so if one comedian isn’t floating your boat then don’t panic: there’ll be another one along soon that you’ll like.
Also, have you ever thought of giving stand-up a go? If you have and you’d like to appear at Comedy at the Barn, contact Eamon for a spot.
Remember the comedy starts at 8pm and the bar is open from 7pm.
The night operates on a PWYW (Pay What You Want) basis: at the end of the evening you pay what you think the show was worth+ £1 donatation towards the meetup admin fees would also be very welcome😊
Andrea Levy’s Orange Prize-winning novel Small Island comes to life in an epic new theatre adaptation.
Experience the play in cinemas, filmed live on stage as part of National Theatre Live’s 10th birthday.
Small Island embarks on a journey from Jamaica to Britain, through the Second World War to 1948 – the year the HMT Empire Windrush docked at Tilbury.
The play follows three intricately connected stories. Hortense yearns for a new life away from rural Jamaica, Gilbert dreams of becoming a lawyer, and Queenie longs to escape her Lincolnshire roots. Hope and humanity meet stubborn reality as the play traces the tangled history of Jamaica and the UK.
A company of 40 actors take to the stage of the National Theatre in this timely and moving story.
Let me know if you're coming and we can try and get seats close together and /or meet in the bar.
