We will be jamming, discussing, demonstrating, experimenting with Ableton-Link and Ableton based electronica and music making. Bring your laptop with Ableton (latest version) or an iPad with any Ableton-Link enabled iOS apps installed if you want to join in along with other gear. But bear in mind space is limited!
To join our live "mix" with your sound "feed" you need to provide a 1/4" stereo jack to plug into our mixer - which only has 1/4" stereo jack sockets. How this connects to your own gear "mix" is up to you of course. Typically this will be either a 2x mono 1/4" jacks at your end going to 1x 1/4" stereo jack at our mixer end. We typically will have 3 or 4 jams each night - each typically lasting from around 10 to 20 minutes. Some may even run longer. Each jam has a designated volunteer "Jam-conductor". Volunteering to be a Jam Conductor just means assuming responsibility for guiding the jam. At minimum this means instructing the group when to start and stop. It can involve as many or as few directions as you choose in giving to other jam-participants before and during your designated jam. If you want to, you can opt to give *no* directions at all and leave it totally free-form. Its your call - but the Jam-Conductor "owns" it . We host a jam the last monday of every month. The room costs £10 per hour and we have it for 3 hours so we will be asking for voluntary donations to cover the cost of the room.
