What we're about

Hikes of Titans is for individuals who are interested in hiking, making new friends, camping, backpacking, learning about nature, and learning about themselves. There is a new hike/activity planned in the Austin-area frequently. "Titans" connect, adventure, explore, have fun, and learn from each other while spending time outdoors.

Hiking Inks Lake State Park

Inks Lake State Park

Hey Titans! Let's hike Inks Lake State Park on Saturday August 21st. Please reserve a Day Pass before RSVPing to this event (link below). You will need a Day Pass to enter the park, and this is a popular park, so reserve asap to ensure you can attend.
We will meet by the park's Amphitheater at 8:30AM, which is adjacent to the headquarters parking lot, just across the road. Park maps linked below.

First Hike:
We will begin hiking at 8:45AM. We will be doing a scenic ~6 mile loop consisting of Lake Trail, Woodland Trail, and Pecan Flats Trail. This is a tough but rewarding hike. The trails are well maintained, but extremely rocky, and there will be legitimate sun exposure on the majority of the hike, so come prepared! Bring at least 3 liters of water for this hike, and wear appropriate footwear (nothing open-toed). We want to avoid any heat-related health problems, so be aware of the risks hiking in TX summer heat - hydrate and protect yourself from the sun! The rewards: views of Inks Lake, lakeside trails, awesome rock formations.

After, we can meet at the day use area for a group lunch. Bring you're own lunch, drinks, snacks for the day. Then, I suggest everybody take a few hours to enjoy the park in whatever way you please. Check out the gift shop, the multiple fishing piers, rent a kayak, or go for a swim at the famous Devil's Waterhole.

Second Hike:
At 4:00PM we will meet up again at Devil's Waterhole trailhead to hike Devil's Waterhole & Devil's Backbone Nature Trails, which will be ~4 miles total, out-and-back. We will begin hiking at 4:10PM. This will also be a hot hike, so come prepared with at least 2 liters of water. These are great trail's that follow the (sometimes) waterfall-filled Spring Creek Valley, and Inks Lake itself, leading to one of the more impressive bird-blinds I've ever seen. Hopefully there will be a waterfall or two still flowing. Beware: parking near this trailhead can be hard to come by, so leave plenty of time to walk from the overflow parking if you must.

Looking forward to seeing everyone there!
