This Independence Day, travel back in time with us to a cosmopolitan capital city that attracted people from around the world, in whose bustling markets you would have heard people speaking not just Telugu and Kannada, but also some European and central Asian languages! We take you through the ruins at Hampi, to marvel at the vision that the builders of this magical city had, how they sustained such a large city in this dramatic but arid environment. Over our first two days, we fall in love with Hampi in its various moods, with its different facets, always magical, always atmospheric! On our third day, we travel an hour away from Hampi to go further back in time as we wander through one of India’s most extensive, least-known prehistoric sites, with enigmatic megaliths (somewhat like in Stonehenge) that have been standing for 2000 years. Best of all, you can explore these dramatic, other-worldly ruins in the company of a very senior archaeologist who will accompany us on our visit to this remote prehistoric site: As always, our forte is our professional content! We leave Bangalore on the night of Thursday, 14th August, and return to Bangalore in the early morning hours of Monday, 18th August 2014. The cost of this heritage experience is Rs. 14,500 per guest only. This includes travel to and from Bangalore by air-conditioned vehicle, 2 nights and three days’ stay in a luxury hotel in Hospet, all meals for three days, as well as all monument entry tickets. Please email us at [masked] if you’d like to register for this event. Please note that there is a fair bit of hill climbing involved in both Hampi and the prehistoric site. We would not recommend this trip for you if you suffer from arthritis or have any other problems walking.
