What is your background in Philosophy? Did you major or minor in it? Take only one or two introductory courses? Are basically self-taught?

There is philosophy in anthropology, but it seldom involves the writers normally associated with the canon of academic philosophy. So am self-taught on that aspect.

What are your philosophical interests and favorite writers?

My organizing question is "why do people do what they do?" This leads to epistemology and ontology issues as related to my cosmological model. Key writers: German Idealists, continental philosophers, Frankfort School, structuralism, post-modernism.

Retired, MA in Social Anthropology, describe my current interest as philosophical anthropology (why do humans do what they do), belong to 5 other philosophy meet-ups in Balt-Wash area (moderator of Socrates Cafe in Crofton), room for one more.
