A brand new group, the plan is simple - to read a book every month and get together on a Sunday afternoon to chew it over!
No doubt the group will develop in it's own time, but I'm generally hoping books will be contemporary and thought-provoking, everything from fresh debut novelists to ground-breaking non-fiction, with some surprises thrown in...
Open to any fellow book nerds seeking great conversations, meeting new people and having a laugh
In this group we'll be chatting about Trick Mirror, a collection of essays by Jia Tolentino. Praised by Zadie Smith, Rebecca Solnit and John Jeremiah Sullivan, the essays cover various aspects of the modern age including the self through social media, political delusion, "self-optimisation" and ecstasy. Looks promising for provoking good discussion...!
