Horsham FP Coding Dojo

Horsham Coworking Offices

Greetings, fellow FP enthusiasts. We've had to reschedule tonight's meetup sure to the Easter school holidays. We'll be meeting again on Wednesday, 24 April at 7pm this month at the Horsham Coworking offices (above Cook - when you’re standing in front of Cook, the door is round the corner to the right, halfway to the back of the building - go in, up the stairs and you’ll see a placard for Horsham Coworking). The goal of the session is to help people learn functional programming through practical exercises. We'll be using Clojure to do this, however, please feel free to bring your own laptops if you'd like to work through the puzzles in your preferred programming language. We hope that more experienced developers will also come along too. A dojo is a great place for new and experienced coders to learn more. What is Clojure? Clojure is a JVM language that has syntactical similarities to Lisp, full integration with Java and its libraries and focuses on providing a solution to the issue of single machine concurrency. Its small core makes it surprisingly easy for Java developers to pick up and it provides a powerful set of concurrency strategies and data structures designed to make immutable data easy to work with. It’s well worth watching the Rich Hickey's “Clojure for Java Programmers” video or Stuart Halloway's “Radical Simplicity” video. We look forward to seeing you there.
