Climate Chaos and Unexpected Consequences - Tip of the Iceberg-Peter Trabant
Climate Chaos and Unexpected Consequences - Tip of the Iceberg. Unraveling Earth's geologic history from sedimentary deposits and ice cores have shown the whys and when's of earth's ever changing climatic system. The presentation will review Earth's past climate, how we figured it out and what is in store for our habitat's future. Warning. This is not a subject for the faint hearted! Biographical Sketch Before retirement as a consultant to the petroleum industry Dr. Trabant specialized in the interpretation of marine geophysical exploration data for offshore oil and gas wells. His Ph.D. is in geological oceanography from Texas A&M University and is the author of technical papers and textbooks on geophysics and applications of earth's past climate changes to finding hydrocarbons. Peter grew up in France, Germany and Italy attending French and British schools before enlisting in Uncle Sam's canoe club after which he obtained a B.Sc. at U. of Miami. Anticipating the Texas drought in 2010 in their home town of Spicewood with wife Sissy they became climate refugees moving to where the water is. So far, in retirement, he concentrates on hunting Bass from his kayak and bicycling area roads, both paved and unpaved and capturing the scenery through his DSLR. Pete and Sissy also lived aboard a 35-foot sloop for five years sailing from Galveston to Greece, completing their trip in Paris after 6,000 mi.
