Details

Carpools Update: There are still some people who would like to carpool. If anyone has space for a rider, please post a note or message me directly with the where and when of your drive. We only have 8 guaranteed parking spaces and need to use as few cars as we can.

For anyone wanting to caravan. My group is leaving from my place about 3 PM on Friday, March 9. PM me for the address. We are staying at the Del Rio Motel Six, 2115 Veterans Blvd. Singles are $45 + tax. Doubles are $50.

Park Update: BBNP has updated the water shortage status to "bring your own water" within the Basin. Please bring some water for personal needs, two days worth should be enough. Wet wipes are for bathing are a real water saver. The status as of Feb. 27 is that we can refill containers outside of the Basin, during the hikes, up to five gallons per person.

The CAMPSITE: We have a reservation for 2 Chisos Basin group campsites. The limit is for 20 people so please stay within our regular tent size requests of a 1 or 2 place tent for one person and a 3 or 4 place tent for 2.

The showers are 45 minutes away in Rio Grande Village where we will hike on Tuesday. Otherwise, baby wipes are your friend. If anyone reserves an individual camsite and wants to share, let me know so we can expand the RSVP list.

CARPOOLING: Carpooling is encouraged due to the limited parking at the campsites. If we do not have enough parking, those came solo in their cars may need to park elsewhere, up to a half mile away.

CAMPSITE COSTS: The cost $267 total for the two sites. So if 20 people show up it will be $13.35/person for the trip plus your park entrance fee per car and your personal food and transportation costs.

The National Park Service charges an additional $25 per vehicle admission fee (https://www.nps.gov/bibe/planyourvisit/fees.htm) for 7 days. Your National Interagency pass (https://store.usgs.gov/pass) can be used here.
