Big Thicket National Preserve Big Sandy Hike ~11 Miles

Details
Gathering Place: The hike has been relocated to the Big Sandy Trail. The originally planned trail has been closed indefinitely so we will no longer meet at the visitors center. If you are coming from Houston check this page for comments or other changes before leaving. The preserve is subject to flooding, so overnight weather may force changes to be made in the morning. I will post any change information as early as possible.

The Hike: The out and back hike will cover the Big Sandy Trail. The whole trial is 14.6 miles round trip. We'll make it an 11 miler for today and save the longer one for a special event. The trail is a shaded, unused access road. It is mostly dry but passes through some low lying, potentially boggy terrain.
