What we're about

We are reading and discussing James Joyce's masterpiece, Finnegans Wake, a few pages every month. We'd love to have anyone with an interest in relishing all the details in this rich book join us.

Lots of fun at Finnegans Wake!

Finnegans Wake!

Barnes & Noble Booksellers River Oaks Shopping Center

For our meetings we'll start where we left off the previous time. We usually discuss 3-4 pages per meeting (7-9 pm). Look for us around a table upstairs, once they set it up for us, in Barnes & Noble. If you have any interest at all in Finnegans Wake, our advice is "Jump in!" We've found reading and discussing it with others is the best way to approach this immensely difficult but fun and rewarding book. Although we are a Great Books group, we don't actually try to follow Great books guidelines (http://www.houstongreatbooks.net/resources.html) for discussions of FW exactly. We need all the help we can get! Two extremely valuable resources are 1) the Finnegans Wake Extensible Elucidation Treasury, known commonly as FWEET (http://www.fweet.org/); and 2) the James Joyce Digital Archive for Finnegans Wake (http://www.jjda.ie/main/JJDA/F/FWHome.htm).
