Houston Legal Hackers meets monthly to share ideas, explore innovations in legal tech, and develop creative solutions to some of the most pressing issues at the intersection of law and technology. Through social/networking activities, hackathons, demo nights, and workshops, we will identify trends of using technology to improve the law, legal practice, and policy.

Trokt Dlockchain Demo Description:
Trokt has built the first blockchain-based record of truth owned by the legal community. Learn how to connect your portal or application to IBO's Trokt blockchain node, learn how you can expand your technology's reach with blockchain record validation, and practice writing and validating your application using the Trokt blockchain.

Speaker Bio:
Chris Draper, PhD, PE, is the Managing Director of Trokt, responsible for guiding the development, adoption and growth of the Trokt Online Dispute Resolution platform. Dr. Draper is a trained engineer with a focus on human-technology interface risks, a certified mediator with a focus on special needs education conflicts, and an expert on the evaluation of highly complex systems that assist in the human management of legally sensitive data. Dr. Draper received his Bachelor of Science from the University of California at Berkeley and his Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Glasgow.

Joe Vande Kieft is the Technology Director of Trokt, responsible for overseeing all software development, infrastructure, and security. Mr. Vande Kieft is a trained computer scientist with a focus on internal and public-facing communication security platforms for clients in a variety of industries, including state and federal government agencies, insurance companies, and private commercial enterprises. Mr. Vande Kieft received his Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science from Central College in Pella, Iowa.
