What we're about

This goal of this Meetup group is to create a community of meditators within Houston. Our meetups are often led by Kadampa Meditation Center Houston Resident Teacher, Western Buddhist monk Gen Wangpo.

In the meetups we practice meditation and listen to practical teachings on Buddhist principles, so that individually and together we learn to find happiness, greater peace, and transform life's challenges into spiritual growth.

Check out website for details and contact info:

Understanding the Liberating Path: How Buddha fits in to it all

Needs a location

$12.00

Buddha gave many teachings during his life; all of them for the sole purpose of benefiting others. Without Buddhas kindness we would not know the real causes of happiness or the real causes of suffering. Buddha taught us how all happiness and suffering depend upon the mind. He showed us how to abandon those states of mind that cause suffering and cultivate those states of mind that cause happiness. In other words, he taught us perfect methods for overcoming suffering and attaining happiness.
In this series we will look at the common connection we have with Buddha and how we can benefit from this connection.
This class is being held weekly Monday, May 2 - Monday, May 30

We Can Change: Inspiring stories of Buddhist Masters and Their Transformation

Needs a location

$12.00

Buddha was a skillful teacher. One of the ways that he encouraged others was through the use of stories. He would share the accounts of other people who developed good qualities. These weren’t just random people. They were people like us, sometimes worse than us. We can relate to them and consequently, be inspired by them. Each week we will look at a different story that Buddha shared and find the inspiration we need for our own growth and change.
