The Houston Photographic Society is one of the oldest photo clubs in the Houston, Texas area. Our members strive to improve the artistry of their photography while enjoying camaraderie of fellow peers in a social setting. No matter the level of experience, we offer something for everyone: professional print critiques; portfolio reviews; hands-on activities and outings; educational and interesting programs; and much more. Come out for a visit as our guest!
Our annual dues are $35 which covers the cost for our monthly critiques, programs, activities, annual portfolio review, and annual print competition.
Monthly Print Competition
Please note you must be a paid member to participate, but visitors are welcome to attend.
Our club is somewhat unique relative to other clubs in that our competitions are judged by outside photographers who not only pick the winners in each category, but also give a short critique of each submitted photograph. Each of our club members values this critical feedback so they may improve.
You may bring up to 2 matted prints to the competition.
Members are expected to be familiar with and adhere to the competition rules found here:

After the competition, folks meet at the La Madeline to "critique the critiques".
