January Big Thicket Tree Planting!

January Big Thicket Tree Planting!

Details

The Sierra Club and others, on Martin Luther King Day, will plant Longleaf Pine trees with the National Park Service to restore the Big Sandy Creek Unit of Big Thicket National Preserve. This is a rain or shine event so dress for the weather. Wear long pants, long-sleeved shirt, hat, and close- toed shoes. Bring water and lunch. Snacks and more water will be provided.

To caravan, meet at 8 am in the parking lot of Texas Roadhouse, 23750 Highway 59 North, Kingwood, Texas 77339. Be on-time! Take the North Park Drive exit off of Highway 59 North to get to Texas Roadhouse. Meet at the planting site by going north on Highway 59 to Livingston, go east on Highway 190 to FM 1276 (about 15 miles), turn right onto FM 1276, and go about 6.7 miles to a parking area where a ranger will show you where to park.
