The Texas GulfLink project includes onshore and offshore pipelines, a oil export terminal and a crude oil storage terminal in the Jones Creek community. In an area already polluted by DOW Chemical, BASF Chemical Plant, and Freeport LNG Texas, Gulflink will add even more pollution. Onshore there will be 9.7 miles of 36-inch pipeline and 12.7 miles of 42-inch pipeline, some of which will pass through the Justin Hurst Wildlife Management Area. This 42 inch pipeline will then continue another 32.3 miles underwater of the coast of Brazoria County to an export terminal. At the export terminal oil would be loaded onto Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs), massive oil tankers, at the rate of 85,000 thousand barrels an hour or 2 million a day. The United States oil markets are saturated and GulfLink would allow Sentinel Midstream to ship oil from Texas to European and Asian markets. While the oil is exported for profit, communities in Texas are left with the pollution.
