"The Case for a Bike-Friendly Houston"
with BikeHouston Executive Director Joe Cutrufo

On March 11, BikeHouston Executive Director Joe Cutrufo will join the Houston Sierra Club for a discussion on how the humble bicycle is transforming Houston from an automobile-dependent oil town into a green, multimodal metropolis. Bicycling in Houston has long been considered little more than a recreational activity, but Cutrufo argues that the city's growing network of bike lanes and trails can help improve access to opportunity while providing residents and visitors a healthy, zero-emissions alternative to driving. Join us to learn how advocates like BikeHouston are making the case for bicycle-friendly transportation infrastructure, and find out how you can get involved in the movement for safe streets and better bikeways.

Joe Cutrufo comes to BikeHouston with a decade of experience in traffic safety and sustainable transportation policy in New York and New England. As former communications director with the New York City-based Transportation Alternatives, he played an integral role in successful campaigns to redesign streets, legalize e-bikes, expand automated enforcement technology, and pass congestion pricing.
