What we’re about

The Houston Social Entrepreneurship Meetup (HSEM) is a group for people starting -- or interested in starting -- Impact Ventures, also known as Social Ventures. Social ventures are started by social entrepreneurs who have an intentional mission to create a positive impact in our world through their processes, products, and/or policies, and seek to provide systemic solutions to achieve a sustainable, social objective.

Social ventures may be structured in many forms, including sole proprietors, for-profit and not-for-profit firms, non-governmental organizations, and more; and may seek to solve issues related to goals like reducing poverty or hunger, improving health and well-being, quality of education, affordable and clean energy, decent work and economic growth, reduced inequalities, life above land and life below water, justice, climate action and more.

HSEM events will feature talks and working sessions with mentors and peers on topics such as business models, funding, strategies, and more, followed by networking opportunities and discussion. Have a topic that you'd like us to address in a future event? Message us and let us know!
