Geocaching in the Park (1st Series - West Houston)

Details

Interested in Geocaching? Great fun, great friends, good exercise. Let's get together and go for some caches! Bring a sack lunch/snacks and we'll take a break from hiking and caching to eat and if we're at it long enough we can all head to lunch afterward.

Bear Creek Park is the first of what we hope are many such outings. The park is off Highway 6 in west Houston 2 miles north of I-10 at Clay Road.

Let's meet at the equestrian and nature trail head parking area on Bear Creek Drive.

In addition to a sack lunch, bring your:

• GPS or phone with geocaching app

• A pen

• Plenty of water, Gatorade or electrolyte powder

• Sunscreen, and bug spray. (Sunglasses, hats, hiking sticks...whatever else you prefer).

WARNING: Wear long pants, good walking shoes, and a long sleeve shirt (layer with a T shirt if desired). We will leave the trail and detour into the woods so be prepared to "bushwack".

Bear Creek is a reservoir so be prepared - it could be wet and there are snakes and other wild animals in the area.
