What we're about

We started the group in 2018 as an easy way for anyone to get involved in playing regular football. We welcome everyone 18+ to come and have a friendly but competitive game of football. KO times change throughout the year and we generally play on a Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. You don't have to attend every session to get involved - it's totally up to you.

September-March midweek games usually KO at 9pm
April-August midweek games usually KO at 7/8pm
Sunday KO at 4pm all year

June/July/August we add extra sessions throughout the week.

Payment for each session can be paid here through the Meetup app via Paypal. If you don't have Paypal you can use PayPal using a guest login as long as you have a debit/credit card. Meetup is simply used to help manage numbers so we can ensure to get a game going.

Bibs, balls, and arranging are all done by the organisers and the pitch will be block-booked throughout the year.

On the rare occasion, there isn't anyone from the organiser team attending the event, the event will still go ahead. Please take it upon yourselves to bring a ball and bibs if possible.

The group is limited to 400 members so please only join if you're genuinely going to come down and play. New members will be accepted once spots are available. "Inactive" members do get removed to make space for those requesting to join. Members become "inactive" if they haven't RSVP'd once in a year or if they haven't RSVP'd once in 3 months of joining.

Refund Policy: The pitches are all pre-booked in advance to ensure we have the pitch times consistently. Therefore I can't offer refunds. Pitches are all-weather pitches and therefore I can't cancel bookings with the facility. Please take this into consideration when RSVP'ing - by RSVPing you are agreeing to these terms.

RSVP RULES

  • Please don't post on the event wall trying to reserve a spot or create a waiting list. You should only reply to a post of someone saying they can't make it and do a first come first served system.
  • If someone is RSVP'd as going and does a "no show" they will be automatically banned for one month, they can request to rejoin the group the following month.
  • If you’re RSVP’d as going but can't make the event on the SAME DAY please RSVP as "not going" instead of trying to find a replacement.
  • If you realise you can't make the event at least one day in advance, please write on the event wall to see if someone replies and can send you money to take your spot. If someone does take your spot please keep your RSVP as going. In the unfortunate situation someone isn't able to take your spot please RSVP as not-going. An example of this is below

Player A has RSVP'd as going but realises he's unable to play and writes on the event wall

"Sorry guys I can't make it does anyone want my spot"

Player B hasn't RSVP'd as the event is full but wants to play. They reply to the wall post stating they want the spot

"I'll take it. Please let me know your payment details"

Player A/B then work out the payment for the spot. Player A then keeps their RSVP as going once they've received the money from Player B. Player B comes to the event in place of Player A

  • We divide into two teams and play for 60 minutes
  • Games always start on time so please arrive 10 minutes early to warm up and sort out teams

GAME RULES

  • No aggressive slide tackling or foul play. Going to ground is allowed but only to block a shot or pass. It's unacceptable to make any sliding movement towards another player.
  • Everyone must be willing to play as a goalkeeper and share the time equally.
  • Be respectful to everyone playing.
  • Bring a positive attitude and two different shirts to use (ideally white/bright colour and black) to make teams.
  • You must wear the correct footwear or you will not be allowed on the pitch (https://www.meetup.com/Hove-Football-Meetup/photos/31083636/).
  • If no one from the organiser team is attending the event please take it upon yourselves to bring a ball as the facility doesn't keep balls onsite.
