What we're about

This is a group of Dog lovers that like to socialize and get out for walks, hikes or attend events with our 4 legged companions.

We are all easy going, dog-loving people, and we understand that some dogs need a little more time to warm up to the pack. Never hesitate to ask questions about our pack, We have some very knowledgeable dog lovers in this group! If you don't have a dog, as long as you like being around dogs, you are more than welcome to get your "dog-fix" with us!

Our hikes/walks range from somewhat challenging and strenuous to very easy walks in the park. With skill levels ranging from beginner to expert and anywhere in between, all are welcome! We try to find dog-friendly restaurants locally to the hike where we can enjoy each others company just a little longer.

We also attend events organized by others were bringing our dogs is encouraged and accepted! We love exploring local, outdoor, dog-friendly locations and meet like-minded individuals, and we hope you would like to join us

Let's check out what the greater Hudson Valley area has to offer for pet-friendly recreation.

Shaupeneak Ridge Park

This is a beautiful 2.5-mile hike we have done before as a group... and since I'm out of town this weekend, Kim has graciously offered to host this one! Click here for the website (http://www.scenichudson.org/parks/shaupeneakridge) Hike the Hudson Valley has another great description (http://hikethehudsonvalley.com/shaupeneak-ridge/) We'll meet at the upper lot (143 Popletown roads, Esopus, NY 12429), for a smooth, 2.5 - 3-mile loop around the lake! This is the season for bugs, ticks, and mud, so be prepared. Bring plenty of water, and perhaps a lite snack(?) and join us! I will collect a $2 meetup fee, to offset website expenses. Wonder Lake State Park

~^~ Let's try this... again ~^~ After having to cancel this event, TWICE this winter, I'm trying again! Let's hope the weathermakers agree... So pack a lite snack, camera and plenty of water for your crew and let's hit the trail! This is considered an easy to moderate hike by NYNJTC. No scrambles or strenuous climbs, but still a good workout! We will be hiking the "long" trail, around Wonder Lake to Laurel Pond, and back. Approx 5 miles, this should take us min 2.5hrs, but depending on the group, most likely 3-4hrs. Wonder Lake Trail map (http://www.nynjtc.org/map/wonder-lake-trail-map) If you sign up for this hike, show up! If you have a history of no-shows, you will be moved to the waitlist. Please be on time! Most of your co-hikers arrive at the trailhead 15-20 min early to be ready. Please show them the respect they deserve. If you see you're going to be late, text or call me. If we don't know your coming, we will not wait... Just saying. Check out the pictures from our Memorial day hike on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/Orange-County-Active-Dog-Meetup-1264207453644204/)! Trail Conference volunteers maintain trails in this park. The main parking area and entrance are on Ludingtonville Road.
