Chodikee Lake is a 63 acre lake with roughly 1 mile of shoreline. According to one of Lloyd’s earliest historians, Warren G. Sherwood, Chodikee is an Anglicized spelling of an Algonkian phrase “shadakee,” meaning the place of the signal fire. It’s speculated that light-colored rock cliff visible from Camp Stuts Road was used by the Esopus to build fires visible from Mohonk.

We'll put in near Camp Karlin Stolin and paddle around Chodikee Lake, turn south and paddle to the end where there is a small waterfall. We'll lunch there. After, we will return the way we came and those who wish will have the option to end their day. For those of us that continue we will paddle north towards Black Creek, go as far as we can, and then turn around to return to the put in.
