This is an EXPLORATORY kayak event - I have not done this yet. The regular launch on Kidd Rd. is currently closed for repairs, and the Diana St. launch puts in directly on the Hudson, which is what I would like to avoid. I think I've found an unofficial launch which puts into South Bay and am going to test paddle it.

Members are welcome so long as you understand that this event may be quite the hilarious disaster. But, if it goes well then we're in for a beautiful day as well as finding a new venue for this group. I'm hoping for the latter.

The tidal marshes at Tivoli North Bay are dominated by narrowleaf cattail, spatterdock, and wild rice interspersed with purple loosestrife and common reed. Subtidal shallows support communities of submerged plants including water celery. Tivoli South Bay is dominated by Eurasian water chestnut, a floating, non-native species. Tidal swamps are mixed deciduous communities with a well-developed shrub layer and abundant moss species.

What to bring:
** Lunch, Snacks, Water
** Insect Repellent
** Sun Screen, Sun Hat, Sunglasses
** Kayak Roller

Temperature: To Be Updated
Return ETA: 2pm-ish
Distance: ~ 8+ miles

** NOTE: We have approximately 100 feet to walk our kayaks past the gate. The ground is grassy and slightly bumpy. We can help carry the boats or you can use a roller if you own one. The put in is not what I would call easy - but it looks totally doable. TOTALLY DOABLE. Adventure on!

Make Today Ridiculously Amazing,
