Realigning Technology with Humanity's Best Interest - Open Panel Discussion

Details

In our first meetup we want to start an open discussion about the topic of humane technology. How is our society being hijacked by technology? How does it affect mental health, democracy, social relationships, and our children? How can we move away from technology that extracts attention and erodes society, towards technology that protects our minds and replenishes society?

We will start a panel, which will be opened after half an hour to a fishbowl discussion. After that, we will have some time for networking and drinks.

Here are our great guests for the opening panel:

Anni Roolf, project and organizational developer and community strategist, experienced the digital lifestyle to the limit, e.g. in her viral worldwide project Jellyweek. As a consequence she's thinking and working since 2013 on ideas to reconquer human control over digital tools, e.g. in the idea of Analogschule.

Micha Schmidt from Cologne is one part of studio komplementaer, whos projects stop people in their daily rush and invite them to reflect their way of life. Artistic interventions of komplementaer deal with personal topics like courage, hope or mindfulness. Recently the studio created the artwork „selfsync objects“ – a playful aproach for thinking about the effects of digitalisation in everyday life.

Manuel Koelman has built companies since 2003 and has experienced the entrepreneurial rollercoaster first-hand. Currently, he is actively pushing #PurposefulDisruption and creating #MeaningfulConnections with PIRATE.global. As an angel investor he invests in startups with a focus on early stage companies in the machine intelligence space. One of his main interests is to understand the effects of digitization and advancement in artificial intelligence on human interaction, economy and society.

We're happy to see you there!
