There's a two-part HSMNY meeting this evening.

We will meet from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the upstairs private room at the Moonstruck East Restaurant, located at 449 Third Avenue at the Southeast corner of East 31st Street, New York, NY[masked] [ click here for map ( ]. This is for the purpose of "Current Issue" conversation.

Then we travel north to the New York Society for Ethical Culture (NYSEC (, located at 2 West 64th Street at Central Park West, New York, NY[masked] [ click here for map ( ], to attend a 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM event entitled "Stand Up for Charlie Hebdo" (

We are always faced with ethical dilemmas regarding freedom of information, justice and violence, etc. In responding to the terrorist attack on Charlie Hebdo in Paris, we Humanists have much to say and that's why we wish to get together first, for this important purpose: for communication among ourselves and perhaps a proper plan of response. The NYSEC event will afford no opportunity for discussion or input from the audience as there's already a chosen panel discussion.

The NYSEC event, which will be held in the Auditorium, is described as follows:

"Laughing Liberally presents an evening of standup comedy and conversation in support of Charlie Hebdo and freedom of comedic expression. 100% of the net proceeds will go to the families of the victims of the Charlie Hebdo attack.

Hosted by political comedian Scott Blakeman (MSNBC), the show will feature performances by John Fugelsang, the host of Tell Me Everything on Sirius XM Radio 121, Frank Conniff, TV's Frank from Mystery Science Theater 3000, Dean Obeidallah, co-director of The Muslims Are Coming and host of The Dean Obeidallah Show on Sirius XM 121, Lizz Winstead, co-creator of The Daily Show, Katie Halper, co-founder of Laughing Liberally and co-host of Morning Jew, Julianna Forlano, host of The Julianna Forlano Show on WBAI, John Marshall, The Chris Rock Show, Jeff Kreisler, The Final Edition, Leighann Lord, co-host of StarTalk Radio, Ken Schultz, Jim David (Comedy Central special) and Gary Gulman (Letterman, Leno, Conan, Kimmel).

The panel discussion following the comedy performances will feature MAD Magazine Senior Editor Joe Raiola, National Lampoon editor and star of This Is Spinal Tap Tony Hendra, and The New Yorker cartoon editor Bob Mankoff."

Admission to the HSMNY meeting at the Moonstruck East Restaurant is free, but annual HSMNY chapter membership ($25.00 singles / $35.00 couples) is encouraged. Tickets for "Stand Up for Charlie Hebdo" at the NYSEC are available via Eventbrite ( for $43.19 ($40.00 Admission plus $3.19 Fee).

So, let's be in the know and go with the flow! See you in one place or the other, or better yet, BOTH!
