What we're about

Humanists in Healthcare unites the humanist community by putting humanist values and compassion into positive action. Humanists in healthcare recognize the individuals within and in support of the healthcare field to organize, assist, and support them and to make evident that the good they do is guided by reason, inspired by compassion, and informed by experience

- Highlight positive/encouraging stories and good deeds and point out issue’s healthcare workers and affiliates face.
- Assist and support humanists to safely publicly identify themselves and provide a sense of community.
- Organize healthcare related charity, volunteer events, and humanitarian missions.
- Promote science and evidence-based practice in the healthcare setting.

Humanists in Healthcare is a project of the Humanist Community of Ventura County (HCoVC), following in the footsteps of Washington Area Secular Humanists (WASH)]. If you put science over dogma and believe that reason should come first, we encourage you to join in. We do not have a religion test, so you can be of any belief or none.

We will start meeting online only with the WASH group. One does not need be a member of WASH to join. We will also attempt to do live local gatherings once the pandemic subsides enough to do so.

The WASH project is being organized by Ovais Khalil, a nurse in Maryland.
Locally in Ventura County organized by Paul Schmeer, with 27 years in healthcare support industry and President of HCoVC. For more information, contact Paul.

Ovais describes Humanists in Healthcare in this video.

Both Humanist Community of Ventura County (HCoVC) and Washington Area Secular Humanists (WASH) are 501c(3) non-profit organizations.
