What we're about

We hike during the middle part of the week because we can. Most of our outings will be 7 to 10 miles, 750 to 2000 vertical feet, somewhat off the beaten path, and low risk. We will try to experience something new each time. Please message me with any ideas you might have for hikes you'd like to do or outdoor skills you'd like to learn/practice.

Note: No Shows can have a significant impact on other group members by keeping someone from going and/or causing everyone to wait around the morning of a hike. Accordingly, we have a 2 strikes rule. If you're a No Show twice, you get dropped from the group. Don't worry, you won't be flagged if you automatically move onto the Going list because someone canceled less than 24 hours before the hike. And you won't get dinged if you message the Organizer before the carpool meeting time. Please, just be considerate.

Tam McArthur Rim and Broken Hand

Tumalo Coffee House

Car pool from Tumalo Coffee. Trailhead is at Three Creeks Lake. 8 - 10 miles R/T, 1300 - 1500 vertical, depending upon whether we go down to No Name Lake (see photo). Steady up on the way in. One steep pitch with switchbacks. Some cross country travel and navigation practice across the plateau on the way back. There is no water available on this hike; carry at least 2 liters. I recommend no dogs due to the walking surface, but it's your call.

S. Sister Approach to 7200' via Climbers Trail. Return via Moraine Lake.

The Big Wooden Sign on Century Dr, just west of Mt Washington Drive

Hike is 9 miles, 1900 vertical feet. Not recommended for dogs due to leash requirement and footing. This will give us some great views above tree line without needing to do the awful, horrible, terrible top section of the South Sister summit climb. Bring 2 - 3 liters of water.

PCT to West Side of Three Fingered Jack

Tumalo Coffee House

Note: This hike is on a Tuesday. 10.5 miles, 1500 vertical feet on a section of the PCT from Santiam Pass. A few switchbacks, but nothing too steep. This hike will give us a great view of the west side of Three Fingered Jack. Several nice viewpoints along the way. No water is available; bring at least 2 liters.
