This group focuses on two types of fiction: pulp fiction classics, and significant literary books that we are often familiar with, but most likely haven't read.
The first genre is a celebration of pulp fiction. Not the Quentin Tarantino movie, but the classic novels and short stories written for just pennies a word and published for a mass market, without any intention of becoming famous. Many of these stories, from such humble beginnings, have been republished again and again, made into movies, radio, and TV series, and are an important part of our culture. These Meetups are held on Mondays at restaurants in Beverly Hills.
The literary genre doesn't include the most recent bestseller, but books that have withstood the test of time and become part of our cultural and intellectual heritage. These Meetups are held at restaurants all over Los Angeles, and themed to the book or author.
If either, or both, genres pique your interest, join me and other members for the unadulterated pleasure of a moderated discussion over a great meal.
