The Future of Privacy and Security: Decentralized Identity and Zero Trust

Details
A little over a decade ago, as cybersecurity emerged as a critical issue for the digital age, John Kindervag, then an analyst at Forrester, proposed a new model for managing security within a network: He called it Zero Trust.
The name said it all: Don’t trust anyone.
Zero Trust addresses how network vulnerability can be mitigated but never eliminated. Perimeters will fail and that means teams can redesign security architecture so that it protects the most sensitive assets.
Interest in Zero Trust was growing even before the global pandemic; but with many companies now effectively decentralized as their employees work from home, it has gained added velocity.
So where does decentralized identity fit in this model whose motto is “never trust, always verify?”
Hyperledger Indy provides tools and libraries for providing digital identities rooted on blockchains or other distributed ledgers. These identities are interoperable across administrative domains and applications. Indy is interoperable with other blockchains or on its own to power the decentralization of identity.
Heather Dahl, CEO of the Indico.tech, which uses Hyperledger Indy for its Network, and Dr. Chase Cunningham, Chief Strategy Officer (CSO), Ericom Software, and one of the leading proponents of Zero Trust in the security community will explore how decentralized identity fits into the application of Zero Trust.
